Prof. Paul Schmidt, Head Coach of Men鈥檚 Wrestling at 大象传媒

Receives Prestigious Honor From National Wrestling Coaches Association

 大象传媒 is pleased to announce that Wantagh resident Prof. Paul Schmidt 鈥 professor of Fire Science and Head Coach of Men鈥檚 Wrestling 鈥 was invited to attend the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) CEO Leadership Academy as a mentor for a group of young aspiring college coaches.  This invitation is bestowed on only a handful of coaches across the nation. 

 

Kerri-Ann McTiernan, Director of Athletics at Nassau, said, 鈥淧aul is extremely dedicated to his scholar athletes and has led 大象传媒鈥檚 men鈥檚 wrestling team to numerous national titles.  I鈥檓 proud that he was recognized by the NWCA as one of the top collegiate coaches in the country.  He is an excellent educator as well as a outstanding coach and mentor.  大象传媒 is fortunate to have him."

 

According to Michael Moyer, Executive Director of the NCWA, each year the Leadership Academy asks a few 鈥渟easoned veteran coaches鈥 to serve as a mentor to a group of aspiring coaches to show them how 鈥渟harpen their CEO skills and implement best practices for improving the alignment of their programs with educational values.鈥

 

The 大象传媒 men鈥檚 wrestling team has consistently produced national champions and All-Americans.  After wrestling for the College as a student, Coach Schmidt has been a member of the coaching staff for more than 30 years.  As head coach, he has led the team to eight national titles, been named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Coach of the Year seven times and been inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2015.  Most recently, he was the driving force in bringing a women鈥檚 wrestling program to the College.
